Quantitation of Residual Impurities in Cell therapy programs using automated Capillary Western Blot Technology. Currently, we are using sandwich ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay) to detect the low residual levels of BSA and other impurities (residual cytokines, etc.) in our cell-therapy based programs. Conventional ELISA techniques for quantifying the impurities suffer from formulation buffer-based matrix effect of the test sample, and labor-intensive assay procedures. We propose use of a capillary based Western blot system like Jess and optimize it for detection of residual BSA, cytokines and other impurities in cell therapy programs
The selected intern will participate in some of the lab activities like learning the capillary western blot, ELISA, cell culture, design of the experiments, execution, and data analysis, sharing the results in team meetings. This exercise is intended for the intern to have an understanding and appreciate some of the processes that are used during drug development. The internship will also promote the interaction of the intern with and learning from peers and leaders across the team. The interne will be involved in to solving a real-world business challenge for the organization which is detection of impurities in Cell therapy products so that the product does well in clinical trials without any side effects.
