We are looking for a Phlebotomist to draw blood and other tissue or fluid from patients for testing, research or donations. This is a rewarding job in the sense that you will be helping others stay healthy. One of the most important roles you will have is to properly identify patients and correctly use phlebotomy methods (e.g. venipuncture, skin puncture). We’ll rely on you to preserve the quality of samples. We’re looking for vital phlebotomist skills such as the presence of mind, people skills and attention to detail. You should have a certificate in phlebotomy and knowledge of puncture techniques. We want to meet you if you’re dedicated to your patients and have a firm but kind hand.

Responsibilities

• Arrange daily activities based on the urgency of requests for fluid samples
• Identify patients and their personal information using their ID, documents or other means
• Collecting, registering and archiving information and documents by the applicable GCP guidelines for clinical studies, both for local and international investigations;
• Prepare ISF (investigator site file) and TMF (trial master file) for the initiation of participating centers in clinical studies;
• Identifying needs, bottlenecks and deviations within your study team;
• Participate in projects or initiatives on request, on your own initiative, or take on department-wide tasks to contribute to optimising processes within the department.
• Adhere to Research SOP’s.
• Adhere to Good Clinical Practice and Study Protocols.
• Determine the proper venipuncture method based on patient age, health etc.
• Reassure patients and help them relax.
• Draw blood using sterilized needles, vials and other equipment.
• Ensure the optimal quality and quantity of samples.
• Label samples correctly and send or deliver them for testing.
• Answer patient questions and provide helpful information.
• Keep accurate records on fluid specimens and tests.
• Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards while working.
• Help with blood transfusions when needed.
• Participates in different processes for new sites and potential principal investigators.

Skills

• Proven experience as a phlebotomist or Phlebotomy Technician
• Experience with effective puncture techniques
• Understanding of proper patient identification methods
• Knowledge of legal requirements about drawing blood, handling fluid samples and use of relevant medical equipment and material
• Ability to use computers to enter information
• Excellent communication skills
• Attention to detail
• Ability to connect with various types of patients (such as children, elderly, and pregnant women) and make them feel comfortable
• Patience and presence of mind
• Certificate in Phlebotomy or extensive on-the-job training
