Director of Marketing & Membership

The Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce (“Chamber”) is excited to announce the creation of a new role: Director of Marketing & Membership (“Director”). The Director will be responsible for increasing awareness of the Chamber and educating the community on its role, impact, and benefits of membership, as well as for the recruitment and retention of members.

The Director will report directly to the Chamber President & CEO and will work closely with the Office & Events Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing

• Lead a rebranding of the Chamber, to include new logo, website redesign, and development of a brand identity package
• Design print and digital marketing materials (flyers, brochures, signage, etc). to promote the Chamber and Chamber events
• Compose, distribute, and increase subscribership/engagement with our weekly e-newsletter
• Write press releases, website content, speeches, etc.
• Develop strategy and maintain Chamber website and social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram)
• Take photographs and video of Chamber and member events and post to the Chamber’s social media and website

Membership

• Develop and execute new member and retention goals, budget, and strategy (calls and visits to members and prospective members, referral programs, etc.)
• Design and implement new member orientation/on-boarding process
• Lead the Chamber Ambassador Program
• Advise and assist in the development of enhanced benefit offerings and membership packages
• Maintain current and accurate records of members and prospective members in our membership management software
• Train staff, the Board of Directors, and Ambassadors on membership benefits
• Prepare membership reports for the President and Board of Directors to include new and prospective members and retention statistics
• Work with members to make sure dues and invoices are paid in a timely manner

Other

• Assist with “all hands-on deck” events, such as the Annual Dinner, Volunteer Luncheon, and Member Tradeshow
• Participate in member and community activities and events

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, advertising, or similar field
• 3-5 years of experience in sales and/or marketing
• Experience with website and graphic design
• Experience using a customer/member relationship management system
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Purpose driven and committed to causes greater than themselves
• Has a growth mindset and is a continuous learner
• Pushes the envelope, but is well-aligned
• Detail oriented and organized, but also quick to adapt to change
• A proactive self-starter, but also collaborative in nature

The Director will work from the Chamber office in River Tower (1108 Third Ave Suite 300 Huntington, WV 25701). Work hours will be from 9 am – 4 pm Mondays through Thursdays and 8 am – 3 pm on Fridays, plus Chamber events (1-2 evening events per month).

This is a salaried, full-time position. Salary will be determined based on experience, but will be in the $50,000/year range plus life insurance and retirement.
