Driver Assistant to IL Specialist

JOB DESCRIPTION

Part-time Position available in Sheridan. Set hours are Tuesdays, 9:00 am-3:00 pm with occasional requests for hours outside of set schedule.

Centers for Independent Living (CIL) promote a philosophy of Independent Living including consumer control, peer support, self-help, self-determination, equal access, and advocacy, to maximize the independence of individuals with disabilities. CILs are peer organizations, and primarily staffed by people with disabilities. Wyoming Independent Living’s (WIL) mission is to advance independence, dignity, and a world without barriers where people with disabilities are empowered to participate fully in our communities and individual life choices. WIL Independent Living Program Specialists partner with individuals with disabilities by providing the five core services of a Center for Independent Living:

· Information and referral (I & R)

· Independent living skills training

· Personal and systems advocacy

· Peer support, and

· Transition services

The Driver Assistant to the IL Specialist is responsible for assisting agency employee who has a barrier to transportation. They will transport the specialist to appointments or meetings. This position requires an individual to have the ability to carry and deliver equipment which may weigh up to 50lbs, to be in close proximately to service animals, includes state-wide travel, and requires a clean Wyoming Department of Motor Vehicle driver's history record at all times during employment.

SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE:

· Assist IL Specialist with transportation needs

o Transportation may include, but not limited to:

§ Consumer home visits

§ Places of work

§ Meetings, workshops, in-services

· Ensures that personal vehicle is in good operating condition

· Help individual carry and deliver equipment

· Other job duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

· Wyoming Department of Motor Vehicle driver' license

· Dependable, well-maintained, smoke-free vehicle

· Clean driving record, criminal background, and drug screening

· Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to connect to people

• · Demonstrated map-reading ability and/or GPS usage experience

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 per hour
