Job Description :

Pioneer Valley Hospice & Palliative Care & IntegriScript Pharmacy, both part of Integritus Healthcare, are looking for a Human Resource Generalist to serve both sites.

The Human Resources Generalist assists with the design, implementation and coordination of all human resource programs/functions including talent management, compensation and benefits, policy administration and employee relations, while acting as a strategic business partner to organizational leaders. Ensures legal and ethical compliance with all applicable organizational policies and local/State/Federal regulations.

Essential Job Functions

  • Coordinates all daily human resources operations including providing direct oversight of the establishment and implementation of human resource policies.
  • Ensures compliance with all state, federal, and CHAP employment regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinates the implementation of improved work methods and procedures to ensure that consistent employee recruitment, selection, retention, hiring practices, orientation and termination procedures are handled in accordance with applicable law and regulation.
  • Monitors competitor’s wage, salary and benefit structures and makes recommendations to the Executive Director for compensation adjustments to ensure that the agency is competitive in the market.
  • Works with the management team to identify recruitment needs and develops a recruitment plan designed to fill demand, evaluates the cost-effect of recruitment efforts.
  • Builds and monitors community perceptions of the agency as a high-quality employer, participates in community outreach and events.
  • Assists the Executive Director in the preparation of the annual budget for the human resources department and monitors the allocation of resources according to budgetary limitations and cost-effective plans.
  • Coordinates and participates in community awareness and recruitment activities such as health fairs, job fairs, and outreach through social media. Maintains weekly updates on agency Facebook page with hospice-appropriate news and information.
  • Works with the management team in identifying employee education needs and the development of continuing education program for all employees. Maintains a library of resources to support employee education and development.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all employee information and files; medical records are separate from the personnel files. Understands employee’s rights according to HIPAA.
  • Annually monitors personnel satisfaction with benefits and work environment and reports the results per organization practice.
  • Assists in coaching fellow team members to support positive behavior and interactions with others. Assures disciplinary procedure is followed and supported by appropriate documentation in conjunction with the Executive Director and the department manager.
  • Responsible for the recruitment processes. Assures pre-hire verifications, references, CORI checks, etc. are completed in accordance with regulations and agency policy and procedure.
  • Assures a cohesive and thorough orientation process for new employees. Works with managers to organize the orientation systems for new employees, assures discipline specific credentialing is processed as needed.
  • Coordinates BHCS group health insurance and benefits program for the agency, assists with payroll.
  • Monitors transfers, promotions, leaves of absence, dismissals that occur with the agency. Assures appropriate documentation is completed.
  • Maintains systems to assure compliance with FMLA, COBRA and unemployment.
  • Makes efforts to recognize employees, educate and train employees and promotes employee growth in an effort to increase retention and employee satisfaction.
  • Coordinates worker’s compensation systems. Promotes a culture of safety. Assures thorough investigations (that get to the root cause) are done and communicated in accordance with policy and procedure. Uses home office support as needed for guidance and education.
  • Communicates effectively (written and verbally) and discusses any concerns with the Executive Director.
  • Coordinate and input payroll, collaborate with organization’s business office for processing.
  • Support staff IT needs with work phones and computers as they arise. Act as liaison with organization’s IT department. Setup new hire phones and laptops for use and track updates.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
  • 32hrs/week: 24hrs at Greenfield office with PVHPC - 8hrs at West Springfield with IntegriScript Pharmacy office.

Experience:

  • Must have at least 3 years’ experience in human resource or employee relations role.
  • Two years of experience in employee recruitment and training preferred.
  • Experience in health care setting, preferably in hospice or home care, preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Must have knowledge of Human Resource programs and regulations such as FMLA and COBRA
  • PHR/SPHR and/or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP Certifications desired.
  • Valid driver’s license

Other Requirements:

  • Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills, and public relations skills.
  • Demonstrates autonomy, organization, assertiveness, flexibility and cooperation in performing job responsibilities.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language proficiently
  • Must have proficient computer skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret the programs, goals and objectives, policies and procedures that relate to the HR function
  • Ability to successfully relate and respond to the needs of management and employees.
  • Ability and commitment to learn state, federal and CHAP regulations relating to employment and employee education.
  • Ability to represent and articulate the BHCS mission, vision and strategies in developing, implementing and coordinating the HR department.'

'Work Location:

  • Greenfield (3 days/week) and West Springfield (1 day/week)
