To be successful as a Junior Staff Accountant, you should have a firm grasp of accounting principles and practices. A top-notch Junior Staff Accountant you should be well-organized, have an aptitude for numbers, excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain good relationships with our clients and team members. This position offers a great opportunity to learn about the Self-Directed Retirement Industry and many aspects of accounting and reporting working closely with the Managing Partner, who is a CPA.

RESPONSIBITIES INCLUDE:

  • •Performs a full range of financial accounting functions for client retirement accounts. Accountabilities include:
  • Accounts receivable – post transactions of all incoming monies (via check, wire & ach): including but not limited to: rent, rollovers, transfers, contributions
  • Accounts payable - Process Accounts Payable on a timely basis – via check, wires and ACH’s, (including bills, distributions, transfers, asset purchases etc) ensuring accuracy
  • Reconcile bank accounts
  • Journal entries including posting entries and adjustments
  • Update Fair Market Values of assets
  • Setup wires & Ach’s for manager approval
  • Financial Reports - Produce financial reports as requested. Perform month-end closings.Assist in the preparation of financial reports and audits as requested working closely with the Managing Partner/CPA.
  • Records Management –Manage Client Files in secure filing area and in electronic format, adhering to regulatory compliance requirements and company policy.
  • Run occasional errands to bank
  • Some tasks will need to be performed against short deadlines.
  • May perform tasks for multiple managers, in addition to direct manager.
  • Perform other related miscellaneous duties as needed.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as assigned that are specific to the essential operations of the department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a Degree in Accounting. Prefer someone with 3+ years accounting. Will consider a recent graduate with strong credentials.
  • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Enterprise and Microsoft Excel.
  • Competent PC skills in Microsoft Word and Outlook. Ability to learn additional software programs with limited direction.
  • Prior experience in Financial Services, Accounting, Banking, or related industries desirable.
  • Experience with AP/AR.
  • Strong understanding of debits and credits
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information
  • Strong integrity and ability to safeguard confidential information.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail and superior accuracy.
  • Flexible and adaptable to handle changing work assignments and volumes.
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • Ability to balance priorities and complete tasks per deadlines, including some tasks due daily or intraday.
  • Excellent follow-up skills.
  • Friendly, courteous, and professional customer service skills required to interact with clients via telephone and in person.
  • Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Able to interact effectively with other company employees on tasks and assignments.
  • Reliable, prompt attendance.
  • Team player supporting company goals.
