OPERATIONS MANAGER
JOB SUMMARY:
A leading logistics and transportation provider, shipping freight and household goods between the continental United States, Hawaii, Guam, Alaska, and Puerto Rico. The responsibilities of the Operations Manager will include training and supervising employees, reducing operational costs, monitoring department’s compliance with operational policies, and keeping up-to-date with the progress of administrative duties. OBJECTIVES OF THIS ROLE:
· Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols
· Grow the efficiency of existing organizational processes and procedures to enhance and sustain the organization’s internal capacity.
· Track staffing requirements, hiring new employees as needed
· Actively pursue strategic and operational objectives
· Ensure operational activities remain on time and within a defined budget
· Improves operational systems, processes, and best practices for organizational well-being.
· Be proficient with use of the iPad and MoveStar
· Other duties as assigned.
DAILY AND MONTHLY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Lead, motivate, and support a large team within a time-sensitive and demanding environment, including setup and implementation of career development plans for all direct reports and problem resolution
· Manage timely data collection to update operations metrics to achieve productivity targets, reduce cost per unit, eliminate errors, and deliver excellent customer service
· Partner with cross-functional support teams in improving the proprietary tools and systems
· Work closely departments to make sure activities remain compliant
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
· Ability to train, influence and motivate team members
· Excellent Written and Verbal communication skills
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· High school diploma
· 3+ years’ experience in dispatch and logistics
· Knowledge of Microsoft office; Outlook, Word, Excel
· Knowledge of basic office equipment; computer, printer/copier, fax, postage machine and phone systems.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
WORK HOURS:
· Flexible work hours.
· Work may be required on Holidays.
· Additional tasks and work may be assigned at a later date
