Operations Manager - Transport – $80,000- $100,000

The primary role of the Operations Manager is to ensure that customer pickups and deliveries are completed on time in safe and secure environment. Operations Manager is responsible for effective use of resources, leading operations team employees, creating healthy and productive work environment, and promoting continuous improvement culture.

Your Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Demonstrate inspirational leadership, motivate team to accomplish goals and provide exceptional service to customers.
• Use continuous performance improvement methodology and LEAN principles to Identify and implement cost savings initiatives, productivity, and service quality enhancements.
• Recruit, develop, and retain drivers and other operations employees.
• Enforce company safety and security standards to ensure the operations employees are complying with policies and procedures to reduce accidents and work-related injuries.
• Work with the asset fleet to ensure it is in good working order, all mechanical issues are timely addressed, trucks and other equipment are ready for work.
• Work on development and optimization of routes, improvement of fleet utilization, implementation, and execution of asset control measures.
• Make recommendations of strategic nature to ensure current and new business is sustained.
• Route drivers, adjust as needed to ensure service levels are maintained.
• Rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Perform a variety of tasks in high pace environment.
• Manage driver’s and other operations employees’ payroll, driver’s hours of service, and driver’s logs.
• Assist the senior executive team on regular basis, ensure quality service is provided to customer base, and provide timely and consistent reporting and analysis when requested.
• Be a results-oriented team player

Essential Job Functions:

• Manage drivers to a high level of operational performance and customer service standards
• Work with VP on projects as needed
• Lead by example, set a high energy level in the organization
• Communicate effectively with internal and external customers, vendors and carriers
• Complete or assist with miscellaneous projects as assigned
• Participate in sales and marketing efforts as required

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the transportation industry.
• Full knowledge of trucking regulations, FDA requirements, DEA requirements and other government regulations applicable to the supply chain management.
• Strong oral, written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Good knowledge of port operations and requirements.
• Ability to read, write and speak English. Working knowledge of Spanish is a plus.
• Knowledge of one of TMS systems such as McLeod, Profit Tools, or Cargowise is a plus.
