POSITION SUMMARY: To provide assistance and support to patient’s families and other hospital departments. Effectively adjusts communication to the patient (legal guardian, and/or family) with consideration given to age, level of understanding, developmental stage and clinical status. Compatible with accepted social work practice and hospital policies and procedures. Is cognizant of cultural diversity in the implementation of social services practices with patients. Practices under the guidelines of the Code of Ethics as set forth by the National Association of Social Workers.

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work or a related field and possess a valid social worker license or be eligible for social work licensure in West Virginia. Medical knowledge sufficient to understand the needs and level of care of patients.
