CRI is looking for a hands-on Software Engineering Manager who is interested in joining a team of self-driven, hands-on, and curious individuals working in a dynamic environment with other software, electrical, and mechanical engineers. Each project at CRI is unique, allowing our Software team to use their multifaceted skills to see projects from start to finish.

Software developed at CRI covers a wide range of responsibilities, spanning motor control loops, power delivery systems, inertial navigation systems, image processing/computer vision, geospatial analytics, web-based interfaces, and client software. Normal development environments incorporate a wide range of technologies, from embedded systems with limited resources to enterprise server platforms with algorithms utilizing hardware acceleration.

Core Responsibilities of the Software Engineering Manager:

  • Manage a small team of software, GIS, and data engineers by building a technology roadmap and driving CRI’s technical innovation initiatives as it relates to customized software, data curation, API, and UI/UX
  • Responsible for working hands-on to create software architecture, integration, and ensuring quality products delivered by the Software team
  • Collaborate and foster partnerships with external organizations, labs, and educational institutions to expand CRI’s scope and capabilities in order to stay at the forefront of emerging technologies
  • Support customers both remotely and in-person, as needed, through clear communication, presentation, and training
  • Act as the company Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) to ensure the implementation, compliance, and maintenance of security controls in accordance with NIST, CMMC, CRI policies, and NISPOM, where applicable
  • Foster a creative and driven environment for software development including recruiting and mentoring junior-level software, GIS, and data engineers

The Ideal Software Engineering Manager Will Have:

  • B.S. required; preferably in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science
  • 10+ years of professional applicable experience
  • Experience in lieu of degree may be considered
  • Experience with hands-on hardware software development such as programming robotics and integration with electronics is required
  • Experience with Linux development environments
  • Experience in programming languages: C/C++, Python, JavaScript, C#
  • Familiarity with libraries: OpenCV and CUDA
  • Understanding of structured data: JSON, XML, MessagePack
  • Experience with communication interfaces: Ethernet (TCP, UDP) and Serial
  • Previous experience tinkering with cameras and embedded platforms such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi are strongly preferred
  • Interest in creating immersive and intuitive user experiences
  • Previous experience with cybersecurity and possession of cybersecurity certifications, such as CISSM, preferred, but not required
  • Ability to work in and lead a collaborative, multidisciplinary team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • This position may require the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. citizenship
