Position Summary:

Tijuana Flats is known for redefining Tex-Mex with its colorful experiences and is seeking an experienced designer who is inspired by new trends and emerging technologies. The ideal candidate must help us take a stand against the bland and boring and typical and expected. This position will oversee and execute all design projects, from conception to delivery and collaborate with creative and business teams to support the overall business goals. Strong sense of concept development, layout composition, color theory and typography are needed. Must have broad experience with print and digital design and be able to self-manage. Copywriting is a plus. Essential Functions:

• Possess strong conceptual skills, high level sense of design, layout, and typography; a broad thinker who can offer a variety of design solutions.
• Create distinctive and colorful visuals in a variety of media, including print, digital, and web design while keeping creative integrity and brand consistency in every piece. Video design skills are a plus.
• Collaborate with marketing team to create sales driving and brand building initiatives while providing ideas and input to campaign work that align with overall strategy.
• Researches and maintains an understanding of the latest restaurant trends and provide successful and innovative solutions to effectively communicate to guests.
• Manages internal database of creative assets and provide best practices insight to consistently enhance collaboration, manage assets, and maintain visibility of project workflows.
• Ample knowledge of print and file preparations to support campaign rollouts and distribution of materials.
• Participates in the review and selection of vendors, such as printers, advertising agencies, web developers, photographers, etc.
• Strong attention to detail and organization with ability to meet and exceed deadlines.
• Stay up to date with industry tools, innovation, and design trends.
• Illustration skills are a plus.
• Work well with tight deadlines in a team environment.
• Experience working with photographers and agencies a plus.
• Proactive problem solver, communicate clearly, and have an enviable self-starting work ethic.

Additional Responsibilities That May Be Performed:

• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Respond to e-mail and voicemail, as necessary.

Education and Experience:

• 7+ years’ experience in graphic design.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Restaurant creative development experience and food photography experience preferred.
• Must be extremely proficient with Adobe Creative Suite, with a strong focus in Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
• General knowledge of Microsoft office (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel etc.).
• Portfolio of completed design projects required.
• Video and/or motion graphics experience a plus.
