- This role is for summer term
- Summer: Start Date May 22, 2023, or June 5th – August 11, 2023
- AMD is looking for a photonics design intern for our SerDes group to design the state-of-the-art optical transceiver. Primary responsibility for this position will be:
- Perform design and modeling of optical structures such as ring modulators, interleavers, deinterleavers etc.
- Define system and circuit architectures optimized for high bandwidth electrical and optical links
- Perform link level simulation in Lumerical, Matlab and/or SPICE to prove the architecture
- Perform opto-electronic lab testing
- Experience in design & simulation of silicon photonics optical components (waveguides, multiplexers/demultiplexers, couplers, MRM, CRR filters, PD) for co-packaged optical links
- Hands on experience in CMOS photonics development and modeling including being proficient in mainstream CAD tools like Lumerical
- Experience in opto-electronic lab testing
- Experience design of wireline and optical transceiver building blocks
- Good communication skills
- A penchant for problem solving
- MS or PhD enrolled in Electrical Engineering
- Compensation range from $48.00-$60.00 hourly commensurate with experience.
