JOB SUMMARY

The Tooling engineer will be responsible for the design of tools, fixtures, and gauges to support production and prototype. Design to include standard purchased components such as clamps, cylinders, dowels, fasteners, handles, etc. The tooling design engineer will select materials for robust tooling and fixtures. The tooling engineer will work directly with outside tool houses to provide solid models and drawings for fabrication. The tooling engineer will need to be able to read customer drawings and design gauges to certify products to the customer prints.

Tool Design Fluency

• Design fixtures

• Store and revive tooling drawings.
• Oversee tooling database.
• Select clamps, handles, and purchased components for tools and fixtures.

Asset selection and information storage

• Troubleshooting tool, machine, and prototype problems
• Machine asset document storage and retention
• Use of data vaults retention systems

Machine Run-off

• Machine selection

Process Development

EDUCATION

• Associate I technology BS/BA Engineering preferred.

EXPERIENCE

• 3 Years of Tool Design
• Solid works CAD software
• GD & T concepts
• Blueprint and drawing
• Metal working tool requirements, i.e. end forming, ram forming, profiling, flare tooling, etc.
• Types and capabilities of metal materials
• Standard drawing formats and drafting techniques
• Troubleshooting tool, machine, and prototype problems
• Tool steels and tool hardening techniques

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
