Granite Peaks Gastroenterology is a busy and fast-paced GI clinic in Sandy, Utah. We are looking for a Full-time Triage Medical Assistant to support our growing and dynamic team.

The Triage Medical Assistant will provide a professional interface between the patient, doctor, and front desk throughout the patient visit as well as provide follow up patient communication and education.

Triage Medical Assistant Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Maintain a high degree of professionalism and compassion in sensitive discussion.
• Timely follow-up and response to patient questions, results, and inbox tasks
• Notifying patients of lab, radiology, pathology, and procedure results.
• Provide clinical support by ensuring that results are reviewed and read by providers in a timely manner.
• Provide patient education on diagnosis, treatment, diet and delivery of follow up instruction as directed or advised by provider.
• Prepare documents: FMLA, disability, insurance paperwork, home health orders for patients and physicians.
• Approve prescription refills and call-in new prescriptions as directed by provider.
• Perform medication, lab & radiology prior authorization appeals.
• Pill Cam patient hook up, education and download of equipment.
• Responsible for return and download of Pill Cam and Bravo testing equipment.
• Ensuring patients are properly educated on Bio Fire Assay testing and that a proper log is maintained showing how many have gone out and come back in.
• Maintaining Patient Portal communications and enrollment.
• Maintain a high degree of professionalism and compassion in sensitive discussion.
• Schedule office visits when needed.
• Work with and support members of assigned provider Care Team
• Other duties as assigned.

Performance Requirements:

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of health care field and medical office protocols/procedures.
• Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to particular medical practice.
• Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families.
• General knowledge of computer data entry (Microsoft Office Suite, Windows, EHR)
• Minimum 3 years Triage Medical Assisting Required
