JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Communications, Information, and Navigation Office (CINO) in the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University is seeking several highly motivated graduate students for research opportunities. These positions cover a broad range of academic and engineering disciplines in all aspects of communications and signal processing, cyber information, navigation research, geospatial data science, and advanced science and technology.
You will:
Use accepted methods and techniques to assist with the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical engineering products, systems, and subsystems
Contribute to experiments/tests in the laboratory/field to test, prove, or modify theoretical propositions on basis of research findings and experiences of others researching in related technical areas; may include taking measurements and recording observations, collecting, compiling, and processing data
Contribute data/findings for use in technical reports, documents, research, or oral/written presentations
Interact in a collaborative manner with other team members, engineers, and scientists to accomplish organizational goals; may provide ideas to improve efficiency at group level
Applicants with a strong interest and experience in the following will be given preference:
Signal processing
Cyber forensics and cybersecurity
Quantum Science
Modeling and simulation
Software development
Visualization and data science
The successful candidates will work up to 40 hours/week over the summer and 20 hours/week during the fall and spring semesters.
Minimally requires a Bachelors Degree and in an Engineering or Science discipline and be enrolled in Masters Degree program or higher.
You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply . Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation. Employment with the Applied Research Laboratory will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
