Company and Position Summary

Headquartered in Wichita, Kansas, Juniper Payments is a Software as a Service provider for financial institutions throughout the United States. We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer. The Senior Software Developer coordinates, facilitates, and leads a team of talented engineers and developers. This leader will make a daily impact by applying their experience and talent in leading our development team in creating and maintaining industry-leading banking software. They will facilitate progress in an environment in which they are autonomous, challenged, supported, and can make significant contributions to the success of the company and to our 24x7 hosted applications that facilitate the processing and movement of daily financial transactions.

A successful candidate should be a self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills, strong problem-solving acumen, and the ability to collaborate closely with others including coworkers, customers, and vendors.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Support our hosted applications on existing technology infrastructure and to help develop the strategy for our next generation efforts.
  • Apply and maintain modern methods and tools in the development infrastructure and SDLC, including but not limited to coding, documentation, testing, source control management, and build practices.
  • Ensure that contracted developers are provided with the tools to be successful.
  • Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture.
  • Collaborate with project managers, designers, third parties, and others to ensure that developers are provided with accurate and understood requirements.
  • Instill best practices for software coding, security, and documentation.
  • Work closely with other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions.
  • Participate in planning for the IT and Development departments, including fostering innovation, organizing projects, and supporting implementations.
  • Delegate and assign tasks and set goals to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Ensure performance, scalability, automation, and security defects are documented and acknowledged by development for remediation.
  • Create, update, and enforce company software policies.
  • Provide direction and leadership to development staff in the completion of their day-to-day responsibilities and ensure that established policies and procedures are followed.
  • Handle interviewing, hiring, promoting, transferring, providing performance appraisals and compensation increases, counseling and termination of staff.
  • Develop and maintain staff by applying the necessary training and leadership that will allow internal growth and advancement.
  • Direct staff to ensure that all duties are performed according to departmental performance standards.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Six years of software development experience.
  • Direct experience with 24x7 hosted applications supporting thousands of disparate users.
  • Experience in the financial or banking sectors
  • Experience with project management methodologies including Agile and Waterfall.
  • Experience in a robust SDLC environment.
  • 6+ years experience developing software
  • 2+ years proven work experience as a team leader or supervisor
