Designed Stairs is a premier builder and installer of high-end stairs. We are a 50-employee business that provides a broad range of stair work, from simple remodels, to 6 figure one-of-a-kind stairs in multimillion dollar homes. We are comprised of many unique and specialized areas, which make management of this “small’ business somewhat complex. Our operations include: wood mill, fabrication shop, machine shop, installation services and a front office that includes engineering, technical design and other administrative services. Our efficient process, controls, technology, quality and design set us apart from our competitors. Our customer base is northern Illinois, Indiana and southern Wisconsin along with some out of statement shipments.

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and energetic professional manager. As a top leader of our team, you will not only be responsble for the day to day business operatoins, but also develop strategic initiatives to grow the business in both sales volume and profitability.

This position reports to the President. Direct reports to this position include Customer Services / Sales Manager and Technical/Products Manager and Accounting Manager.

Reports to the President are, Business Operations Manager, Production Operations Manager and Engineering Manager.

This key role will drive market and product development, process improvement, Associate growth and engagement, as well as financial success.

Responsibilities:

  • Learn and understand our product, market and operations.
  • Oversee and coordinate front office departments to assure all functions are effective and efficient.
  • Oversee key accounts and contracts.
  • Lead market and product development and implementation.
  • Drive training / development as well as employee engagement.
  • Demonstrate personal accountability by building ownership for key initiatives.
  • Maintain high levels of execution and accountability through efficient process controls.
  • Develop the organization by managing performance and developing capability.

Qualifications:

We are seeking a dynamic, self-starter who can lead an organization. Our ideal candidate brings experience with strong adherence to process, decision-making skills along with the interest to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering required
  • Master’s is preferred.
  • Management experience.
  • Strong character and work ethic.
  • Superior analytical skills.
  • Self-motivated.
  • A positive approach, team player easy to work with.
  • Enjoys working with and learning from other knowledgeable professionals.

Location:

We value work / life balance and no travel is required. We are located in Sandwich IL, a rural community approximately 60 miles west of Chicago. We have an excellent highly skilled work force where the average employment is 15 years.
