For over 30 years, Smitty’s Towing has provided 24/7 emergency towing, roadside assistance, and recovery services for AAA Members, Law Enforcement and the Public. Smitty’s Towing is family owned and operated and is conveniently located in Santa Barbara County with four (4) dispatch locations.

We will train you! No previous direct towing experience is required. With a full fleet of vehicles, we are committed to furthering the career development opportunities for drivers who demonstrate a strong work ethic, think creatively, and manage time and projects efficiently and safely. We have been training and developing our Roadside Assistance Professionals to drive all kinds of light, medium and heavy-duty trucks for 30 years! By joining Smitty's Towing, you will learn new skills and practices for providing a variety of customer solutions for roadside problems. You will also attend AAA training and seminars on industry best practices and providing excellent customer service to AAA members. However, a background in roadside assistance, or experience loading and unloading a flatbed truck, or tractor-trailer is a plus.

We are looking for full-time Tow Truck Drivers/Operators who are energetic, self-motivated, and goal-oriented. If you enjoy driving, assisting others by providing excellent customer service and are looking for a position with unlimited earning potential, this is the job for you!

Requirements

To drive with us you:

• Must be 21 years of age, or older.
• Must meet auto insurance requirements.
• Must have a valid California Driver License, or ability to obtain a California Driver License.
• Must pass AAA pre-employment background check.
• Must pass law enforcement livescan (fingerprint) background check. Records obtained from the DOJ and the FBI.
• Must pass pre-employment drug test and random drug testing throughout employment.
• Must be flexible with work schedule. We operate 24/7 - 365 days a year and drivers work 5/3 rotation schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities

Our ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal skills to interact with customers and can manage their time well while on the road. Some job duties include but are not limited to:

• Respond to accidents, break-downs, and other roadside incidents.
• Assist disabled motorists with services such as changing their tires.
• Stay in contact with motorists when you are enroute.
• Tow their vehicle to a nearby garage.
• Safely load cars onto the back of your truck.
• Keep your truck clean and in good condition.
• Pre-Inspect and Post Inspect Tow Truck.
• Tow cars that have a parking or other illegal infractions.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle physical workload (kneeling, crawling, lifting, etc.)
• Able to lift 50 lbs. or more.
• Physical strength and stamina.
• Common Sense and Good Judgment.
• Strong Work Ethic and Sound Decision-Making.
• Safety-Conscious & Good Driving Record.
• Strong communication and time management skills.
• Basic mechanical skills.
• Attention to detail when documenting work.
